The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has issued a new circular introducing a new Entry Form format for international badminton tournament entries. The association has instructed all its affiliated units to strictly follow the new format for all future international tournament entries. The circular, issued as BAI/ENTRY FORM/2026/165, also announces an important requirement concerning BWF ID creation: a valid copy of a player's passport will be mandatory for obtaining a BWF ID, with the requirement applicable from 1 September 2026.

New BAI Entry Form for International Tournaments

According to the BAI circular dated 26 August 2026, a new format for the Entry Form for International Tournaments has been introduced.

All affiliated units have been asked to ensure that:

  • The new Entry Form format is used for future international tournament entries.

  • The form is completed accurately and completely.

  • Entries are submitted within the prescribed timelines.

  • Requests submitted in an old format, or containing incomplete or incorrect information, may not be processed.

This makes it important for players, academies, coaches and affiliated associations to check the latest BAI entry requirements before submitting entries for international competitions.

Valid Passport Required for BWF ID

One of the key points in the new circular is the requirement for a valid copy of the player's passport.

BAI has stated that a valid passport copy is mandatory for obtaining the BWF ID. Players who do not have a valid passport are advised to begin the passport process as early as possible to avoid delays in BWF ID creation.

Why This Update Matters

International tournament entries involve coordination between players, state associations, BAI, tournament organizers and the Badminton World Federation (BWF). Incorrect or incomplete entry information can create administrative delays.

The new BAI procedure places particular emphasis on accurate entry information and advance passport documentation, especially for players who need a new BWF ID.

For junior and senior players beginning their international careers, having a valid passport before planning overseas tournaments can therefore help avoid last-minute administrative issues.
