Sankar Muthusamy Enters India's Top 10 Men's Singles World Ranking Players and in his Career Best

Sankar entered the quarter-finals of Yonex US Open 2023, held during 11 - 16 July at Council Bluffs, USA. 20 years old Sankar has tackled World No. 34 and 33 in the previous rounds and faced his counterpart World No. 12 Lakshya Sen in the quarter-finals.

Sankar is in the top 10 Indian Men's Singles world-rank players and the youngest of this elite club.

This performance helped him to reach his best world ranking of 71, and he has climbed 9 more ranking position this week with 3850 points.

After Syed Modi International BWF 300 in 2022, Sankar has waited till June 2023 Taipei Open 2023 to qualify BWF 300 main draw.


US Open quarter-finals become Sankar's best BWF Tour performance. He started playing more BWF World Tours during 2023 and now his experience and commitment pay for him.

Sankar has received support from his coach Aravindan, Fireball Badminton Academy, Chennai who has helped him to develop as a Senior World ranking player just immediate 6 months after from the junior circuit.

Just few months after winning the World Junior Championship Silver medal in Oct 2022 Sankar urges and focuses on his career acceleration towards BWF World Top 50.


Even though he was a world junior top player, it was unfortunate for Sankar who missed to contest in the previous version of the Youth Olympics which was canceled due to the pandemic. Now he is marching towards the summer Olympics probabilities.


Sankar's recent performance has garnered attention in Indian badminton scene. He has shown tremendous potential and talent and many believe that he has a bright future ahead of him. He has managed to perform impressively against some of the best players in the world showcasing his skills and determination on the court.
