Sathish Kumar, Unnati Hooda and Aadya Variyath dominate Chhattisgarh International Challenge 2023

Sathishkumar Karunakaran continues his recent form and won his second consecutive title in Chhattisgarh International Challenge 2023 on 5th November 2023 at Raipur, India. It’s his fourth podium finishing in 2023 including Silver in the Maldives International Series, Bronze in the Malaysia International Series, and gold in the Infosys International Challenge last week. Currently, he is in his best world rank stand No.71 men’s singles. During October 2023, he gained 43+ world ranks, and the gold from the Chhattisgarh International Challenge declares his solidity as a top Indian Men’s singles player.

Though the mobility in the top 100 is smooth for Indian players, it would be a mountian to penetrate top25 and become olympic probables.

It is the phase of Indian Badminton to identify and strengthen the Men’s Singles bench.

The top Indian workhorses including HS Prannoy, Srikanth K, and Sai Praneeth are 30+ and it is the phase of Indian Badminton to identify and strengthen the Men’s Singles bench. 22 years Sathish makes his position solid in the elite Indian top 10 along with his TN counterpart Sankar Muthusamy who is the youngest on the list.

In addition, he has dominated the Mixed Doubles with her partner Aadya Variyath in recent days and the World No.94 pair converted their recent Silver from Infosys International Challenge last week into Gold in the Chhattisgarh International Challenge 2023. If this performance continues in other international regional challenges, the pair will be a promise for the unstable Indian mixed doubles contingent. It would be a surprise to see a player concentrating on both Singles and Mixed Doubles top world 100 rankings.

This victory may help to patch the crack of recent forms from Indian top women single players.

Teenager and promising upcoming Indian Women’s Singles player, 16-year-old Word No.90 registered her second international gold medal of this year and third podium. This victory will help her to surpass Indian starwall Saina Nehwal and her counterpart Anupama Upadhyaya. This victory may help to patch the crack of recent forms from Indian top women single players.
