Just suspending the doctors involved, monetary compensation or a government job offer to the family member will not the remedial for the death that happened to an athlete who passed away during the treatment for a sports injury. Priya was a first-year Physical Education student at Queen Mary’s College in Chennai. Doctors at Government Peripheral Hospital, Periyar Nagar conveyed to Priya's family that a ligament tear was detected on her right knee and that it would have to be mended through surgery. When During the second opinion at RGGGH, her family was advised to undergo the surgery for her at the Periyar Nagar hospital, which was closer to her house. The surgery was performed at the Periyar Nagar hospital on November 7, and the same evening, Priya started complaining of pain in her legs. The doctors prescribed a tight compression bandage and medicines for the pain. The next day morning, she was shifted to RGGGH due to a suspected blood clot in her leg. RGGGH doctors informed Priya’s family that the tissues in her right leg were dead and removed the leg on November 9. She had undergone a second follow-up surgery at RGGGH on Monday, November 14. She was monitored by the doctors while she remained sedated and on a ventilator. Her death was reported today morning at 07.15 am.
