Manisha Ramadass won Gold for India in BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2022, Tokyo

Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramadass won two gold medals for India and India finished with a total of 16 medals at the BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2022, Tokyo.


Having started playing senior international only in March this year, it was definitely a milestone for the 17-year-old Chennai Girl, who stayed dominant throughout the match.



At the BWF Para Badminton World Championships in Tokyo on Sunday, it was a dream come true moment as Manisha beat local star Japan's Mamiko Toyoda 21-15 21-15 in women's singles SU5 finals.


"This has been the biggest moment of my life. I have waited for this moment and worked hard for the past few months for this. It feels awesome to be the world champion. I hope I can continue with such result and make my country proud in future events," said Manisha. She won Gold in SU5 Women's Single's and Bronze in SU5 SU3 Women's Doubles.


"It is a proud moment and will encourage more para and young players to focus more. Manisha has the potential to perform consistently in the coming years", said Ramkumar, Coach, Appu Indoor Sports Academy, Chennai.

Indian dominated Men's Single SL3 and won Gold, Silver and Bronze by Promod Bhagat,Nitesh Kumar and Manoj Sarkar respectively. Promod Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar won Silver in SL3 SL4 Men's Doubles.
