Takeaways for India are about PV Sindhu's come back after injury and the identification of Anmol Kharb.

Historical Win

India women's badminton team made history as they won their maiden Gold Medal from the Badminton Asia Team Championships by beating Thailand 3-2 in the final on Sunday in Selangor Malaysia of the 2024th edition of Asia Team Badminton Championship. PV Sindhu and World No. 23 pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, and the 17-year-old World No. 472 Anmol Kharb have contributed to the historical medal during the title clash against Thailand.

Anmol Kharb shines in the Historical Gold

The sensational star of the tournament is 17-year-old Anmol Kharb. She fought fearless in all the deciding clashes of Indian matches in the qualifier and knockouts. When India levels with China in the qualifier as 2-2, Anmol registered her promising performance against China's World no. 149 Wu and gave the confidence to the 5th match tally. In the knockout vs Japan, she managed the World No.28, Natsuki, and that victory was also from the deciding match to ensure the ever first India Gold at the Badminton Asia Team Championship. In the title clash against Thailand, again in the deciding match after India level with Treesa Jolly & Gayatri Gopichand, and PV Sindhu's victories, she faced the World No.45 Pornpicha and thrashed her in straights as 21-14, 21-09, never gripped the nerve than focusing on fundamentals.

PV Sindhu came back after the injury break

PV Sindhu tackled the top singles challenges from the Asian badminton powerhouses, Japan, China, and Thailand in the first singles clash of the Team event. She won World No. 17 Supanida, Thailand in the Finals, and World No.77 Happy Yan, Hongkong. India's first match of PV Sindhu's vs World No.8, China's Han Yue is the mood setter for the historical triumph.

The major difference between India from China, Japan, and Thailand is the third-single performance where Anmol has emerged as India's promising star.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand

While experienced players of the squad presented mixed performances, Anmol and Treesa Gayatri pair made the difference by making 100% victorious in the crucial matches. PV Sindhu played 4 WS, and won 03 Matches 75%), Treesa & Gayatri, and Anmol Kharb have won all their matches at 100%. Ashwini & Tanshia played 03 and won 01, 33%. Ashmita Chaliha played 04 matches, and won 01 match (25%).
