
Tamil Nadu Badminton registered their ever best performance in National Games by bagging two medals, a silver in Men's Doubles and a bronze in Mixed Doubles individual events.
36th National Games Gujarat, 2022
The 2022 National Games of India held in Gujarat from September 29 to October 12, 2022. India’s prestigious multi-event sporting showcase returns after a gap of seven years. It was last held in Kerala in 2015.
The National Games held across six cities of Gujarat- Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. Gujarat hosts the National Games for the first time. This is the 36th edition of the National Games, and an estimated 7,000 athletes take part across 36 sporting disciplines.
Badminton (Individual Event)
Hariharan and Rubankumar of Tamilnadu won the national Silver medal in the finals against Ravikrishna P.S. and Sankarprasad of Kerala 19 21, 19 21.
Tamil Nadu's Hariharan A and Nardhana V.R. gave thier best fight against World 53 ranked Karnataka's Ashwini Ponnapa and Sai Pratheek, 23-21, 13-21, 21-19 in the 48 minutes semifinal deciding battle, and settled for Bronze.
Both duos are from Coach Mahendiran Radha of Raks Badminton Gurukul Academy, Coimbatore. 17 years old Nardhana is in 464 BWF World Rank in WD, and in 807 BWF World Rank.
Ruban and Hariharan are progressing in their BWF World Rank steadily in the recent months, and are in World Rank 245 Men's Doubles.
